Majoring In: Biological Sciences (B.S.) || Public Health (B.A.) Minoring In: Emergency and Disease Health Systems || Economics Rush Class: Rho Specialty of Interest: (Pediatric) Corneal Ophthalmology Research // Labs: Vonhoff Lab || YWB Project (Shomotova, Mair) || RAC Unleashed (Birger) About Deven: Returning for his second term on Executive Board, Deven brings his pervious experience as SRMO in a continued mission to foster a safe, welcoming, and ambitious community for all members. Pursuing an MD/MPH pathway, he has a strong interest in genetics and neurobiology, public health and sociology, and ophthalmology, all in hopes of contributing towards corneal disease research, improving healthcare accessibility, and the future of cell therapy applications. Alongside his biology and public health work, Deven is passionate in improving healthcare access and quality of care for underserved communities, especially in men's mental health and pediatric health outcomes through healthcare policy. He keeps himself busy as a Teaching Assistant for BIOL142 and BIOL302L, being a UMBC Woolie Leader, working as a Pediatric Medical Assistant, and tutor for kids K-12 in Math and English. Outside of academics, he enjoys graphic design, exploring new cities, creating new drinks, and supporting the TGR Haas F1 Team. |
Vice President of Programming: Wania MustafaYear: Sophomore
Majoring In: Biochemistry Minoring In: Creative Writing Rush Class: Tau Specialty of Interest: Cardiothoracic Surgery Research // Labs: Vonhoff Lab About Wania: Wania seeks to become a cardiosurgeon, while completing an MD/PhD in the process. Using her experiences and opportunities as a Meyerhoff Scholar, she works in a neurobiology research lab on campus, hoping to use this knowledge to hopefully bridge the gap in medicine for all minorities after further learning about methods to improve healthcare service. She also hopes to apply her PhD knowledge and research to her patients, creating a better methodology for treatment. Currently, she works at a free clinic, while also shadowing a cardiosurgeon, learning more about the ins and out of the field. |

Majoring In: Biological Sciences (BS) Minoring In: Emergency and Disaster Health Systems Rush Class: Sigma Specialty of Interest: Emergency Medicine || Pain Management and Rehabilitation Research // Labs: Vonhoff Lab About Khadija: Khadija is pursuing her EMT certification, further deepening her passion for emergency medicine, all in hopes to further serve her community. Having an extended interest in biology, with a particular passion for genetic testing in healthcare. She is additionally a Student-Athlete tutor at the UMBC Athletic Center, where she has found a strong appreciation for mentorship, collaboration, and support for all students and individuals of varying backgrounds and pathways, all while providing challenging academic experiences. Outside of academics, she enjoys doing arts and crafts, solving puzzles, staying active, and having new experiences. |
Vice President of Finance: Umar ThangalvadiYear: Junior
Majoring In: Biochemistry Rush Class: Sigma Specialty of Interest: Undecided Research // Labs: Chen Lab About Umar: Umar hopes to use his advanced interest in medical research and biochemistry, to combine clinical and medical experiences. He is currently pursuing an MD/PhD, while also being a student researcher in the Chen Lab on campus. Additionally, he is a Chemistry Tutor and Learning Assistant, having worked as a CTC tutor. Additionally, he is a Medical Assistant in Gastroenterology, and when he's not too busy with school, he likes to watch documentaries, play all types of games, and read anything and everything. |

Majoring In: Biological Sciences || Public Health Minoring In: Psychology Rush Class: Tau Specialty of Interest: Surgery About Jahnavi: Aspiring to pursue a career as a surgeon, Jahnavi is fully committed to address health disparities in her community. She plans to pursue a Masters in Public Health, helping shape healthcare policies to improve access and equity to healthcare for all. She additionally serves as a peer mentor for the STEM Living Learning Community on campus. She gains clinical experience through her job as a Medical Assistant and Scribe in Neurology and Pediatrics, where she has developed a strong appreciation for patient interaction. Outside of academics, she enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family, traveling, and playing pickleball. She also runs her own small business, creating a variety of handcrafted items, combining creativity with entrepreneurship. She also enjoys photography, analyzing film, and reading in her free time. |
