Maryland Alpha
Phi Delta Epsilon MD Alpha was colonized on March 6, 2015, and officially welcomed its founding class on April 2, 2015. Shortly thereafter, on November 7, 2015, the MD Alpha Colony was formally chartered and recognized. On February 11, 2016, the chapter welcomed 20 new members into Alpha Class, the first incoming rush class to be accepted to MD Alpha.
Since that time, Phi Delta Epsilon MD Alpha has remained strong, having welcomed over 200 members. Today, MD Alpha has over 30 aspiring Physicians of Integrity within its ranks, each member exemplifying the fraternity's guiding principles of Philanthropy, Deity, Education, and Equity. Each member holds a distinct and unique position within the greater UMBC community, allowing for a beautifully diverse and talented community, which grows and learns from one another.
During the Fall 2025 semester, MD Alpha celebrated 10 years of Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity's presence in Maryland, becoming the first institution within the state to start a colony. This milestone honors a decade of academic excellence, leadership, service, commitment, and dedication to better the field of medicine. Commemorating this achievement with our incredible alumni pool, mentors and partners, and strengthening our relationship with the Baltimore community and entire Maryland region, we strive to continue fostering the next generation of physicians of integrity.
